North Kingstown Fire Chief: Building deemed a total loss after three-alarm fire


NEWS. (PL) WE CONTINUE TRACKING BREAKING NEWS OUT OF NORTH KINGSTOWN (DN) A BUILDING DESTROYED IN A MAJOR FIRE NEAR WICKFORD SHIPYARD MARINA…. THIS IS ON STEAMBOAT AVE, SEEN HERE ON THE PINPOINT NEWS TRACKER. (PL) EYEWITNESS NEWS REPORTER ALEXANDRA LESLIE IS LIVE AT THE SCENE. LEARNING MORE ABOUT THE CHALLENGES FIREFIGHTERS FACED THIS MORNING. (AL) WE ARE ON THE SCENE OF A HEAVY FIRE ON STEAMBOAT AVE IN NORTH KINGSTOWN BY THE WICKFORD SHIPYARD… FIRE CREWS ARE STIL ATTACKING THE ROOF NOW… WHICH HAS SINCE COLLAPSED. CREWS HAVE BEEN HERE SINCE AROUND 4 THIS MORNING. WE CAN STILL SEE HEAVY FIRE INSIDE THE BUILDING, WHICH RESIDENTS TELL US IS SOME KIND OF COMMERCIAL STRUCTURE… WE DON’T KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IS INSIDE. NO WORD ON A CAUSE OR POTENTIAL INJURIES. “we’ve called in an excavator, heavy machinery, to help peel the building apart so we don’t have to put personel in danger. The state fire marshall is on the scene. They have calls for a tower ladder, a bucket on top of an aerial ladder, to do some aerial investigations because they can’t get in there because it’s to dangerous for them on the investigation.” (AL) THIS IS AS CLOSE AS WE ARE ALLOWED TO GO… AND YOU CAN SEE WHY. WE WILL BE ON SCENE HERE ALL MORNING WORKING THE LATEST DETAILS WHEN FIRE OFFICIALS ARE ABLE TO GIVE US AN UPDATE.
